5 Clarifying confusion
Posted by Cody Knox on Apr 17th 2026
This is somewhat confusingly labeled as being both "despecialized" and the 4K77/80/83 releases, but those are very different projects. The special features even include an admittedly interesting documentary on the despecialized version. But this is not that release, which pieced together each movie from various sources to create something as close as possible to the original trilogy. This is the (in my opinion) superior 4K77/80/83 project, which took actual prints of the original films, cleaned them up, and scanned them at 4K resolution. Picture quality varies (Star Wars is a solid 4/5, Empire is a 3/5, and Jedi is 5/5), but I'll never watch any other release other than these. Until something better comes along!

5 Absolutely Magnificent!

This was exactly what I was looking for! The films look beautiful and the sound is wonderful. The special features included are a really nice touch! Especially the videos detailing the changes made to the original films since release.

5 The Original Trilogy

I’ve always wanted to see these films as they were in the theaters. These 4ks are excellent and deliver the goods. Great job!

5 Star wars 4k set
Posted by IceDragon on Jun 7th 2025
I was nervous about buying this, as it's not an officially endorsed product of Lucasfilm. What i will say is that they are very close to perfection. The artwork on both the case and the disc's themselves are very convincing. Only negative is that there are no menus for the main films, and no chapter select. But these are the original theatrical versions, and I enjoyed watching all three of them.
