    I Live In Fear

Of course it's a great movie but this blu-ray is quite good. It's pretty much an HD version of the most current 35mm scan of the negative. The subtitles are straight rips from the criterion dvd which is fine however occasionally the program doesn't identify accented characters and will be an ampersand in there. It happens only occasionally but it's noticeable. Otherwise this is quite good.

Can a man stay sane in an insane world?

An intelligent industrialist becomes so afraid of nuclear annihilation that he tries to move his extended family across the world. As he meets resistance, his fears become more and more intense. It's a gripping drama about post-war Japan's reaction to nuclear bombs, and the dissolution of the Japanese family. The transfer is perfect! I'd be happy to see it projected on a big screen, with all its rich detail and beautiful black and white shadows and light.
