Honey I Shrunk the Kids
Let me first establish I am not a bid Rick Moranis fan. I am not even a fan of Disney films (I loathe the Star Wars sequel trilogy). I don't how I first saw this film but my first impression that it was entertaining in spite of my low expectations. I have found that films can have a haunting effect in that they can lurk in your memories in spite of your initial reaction. I have actually been waiting a long time to finally be able to purchase a blu ray version of this film. (all the dvds were only in pan and scan version and I wanted a true widescreen version to take advantage of my 50" 4k tv). I now have it finally and it surpassed my expectations. The film itself was the first feature film of Joe Johnston and I am a big fan of his work. I think the greatest challenge of film is to create something that genuinely appeals to the widest range of audience....a family film, if you will, that has the ability to entertain everybody. (a big reason for the success of Star Wars) This is such a film and a great find for me.
